Monk

Jeff and I have finally expanded our family by getting a puppy. We searched online for awhile and as soon as we saw "him," the search was over. Jeff found Monk from the Dog & Kitty City Dallas Humane Society. Little did we know that the next 2 weeks would be long and, at least for me, emotionally draining. After filling out a lengthy application, visiting with Monk at PetSmart, providing the shelter with my Mom's vet information (wasn't expecting this one), and enduring a house visit (never heard of this one), we were picked to adopt Monk.
Monk was born the runt among his 4 brothers and 2 sisters, November 9, 2009, and he is a Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix. Most have thought he was part Beagle, and he does seem to resemble a miniature Beagle. Jeff and I did not name Monk. I think that he was originally named Monkey and his foster family called him Monk. We tried to re-name him, but nothing seemed to fit. So, we kept it. We have had him since Friday, and for him being 13 weeks old, he has only had a few minor potty accidents inside the house. :) He is an adorable puppy, and we are thankful that God blessed us with him. The intent on getting a puppy, besides having a pet companion, was to have a jogging buddy, but he might not get big enough. Last Saturday, he weighed in at 3.8 pounds, while two of his brothers were 8 pounds. He's a small thing, but he loves to cuddle, so this will definitely make up if he turns out not to be a jogging buddy! Here are a couple of photos of Monk since he's been home.
